Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court-appointed SIT,which is probing the Ishrat Jahan encounter case,has issued notice to DySP Tarun Barot to appear before it on Friday,said sources. Barot and another police officer G S Singhal had previously appeared before the SIT in March.

Labourer killed

Ahmedabad: A labourer died at a factory in Odhav in the late hours of Wednesday. The police said an embroidery machine fell on Raju at Baleshwar Estate while it was being transported by a crane. The police have registered a case of accidental death and begun further probe.

Woman duped of gold

Ahmedabad: A middle-aged woman from Paldi area was reportedly duped of her gold jewellery by two men posing as police officers. The police said two unidentified men asked Jayanti Aiyar to remove her gold bangles worth Rs 45,000 and then fled with the jewellery. Police have registered a case of loot.

Minor girl kidnapped

Ahmedabad: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by one Jitu Jadhav from the Jashodanagar area in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Rajkumar Pandey told the police that Jadhav was harassing his daughter from a long time and had kidnapped her for marriage.
