Tribal labourer killed by kin

RAJKOT:A farm-labourer of Chhota Udepur district was allegedly murdered by his relative in Chachapar village of Morbi district on Sunday. An old dispute seems to be the motive behind the crime.

Morbi taluka police said that Surpan Rathva hacked Karan Rathva to death while the latter was asleep on the farm of Pranjivan Bhimani of Chachapar, where he was working a labourer. “Surpan hit Karan with a sickle on his head and killed him on the spot. The incident took place at around 3.15 am,” the police said, adding that the accused, who worked on a nearby farm of Dilip Bhalodi, managed to run away. “They are relatives,” the police added.

While they were working in an oil mill in Junagadh some five months ago,Karan had beaten Surpan after the latter eloped with a girl. Prima facie, this incident is the cause of murder,” the police added. On the basis of a complaint filed by Karan’s relative Hari Rathva,Morbi taluka police have booked Surpan for murder and started their investigation.
