According to police, a man from Navsari town, employed at a firm in the Grid area near NH-48, went to answer nature's call near the closed rice mill on Wednesday afternoon and found the body of the woman aged around 30 years. An unidentified woman was found dead with injury marks on her face inside a closed rice mill near National Highway No 48 in Navsari on Wednesday, police said.
The mill has been closed for the last 30 years and its owners are settled in the United States, Navsari police said.
According to police, a man from Navsari town, employed at a firm in the Grid area near NH-48, went to answer nature’s call near the closed rice mill on Wednesday afternoon and found the body of the woman aged around 30 years.
He alerted the police control room and Navsari town police arrived at the scene with the dog squad and FSL teams.
Police said the body of a woman, wearing a Punjabi suit, was lying on the ground with injury marks on her face and other parts of the head.
Police took the body to Navsari Civil Hospital for postmortem and registered a murder case.
Navsari District Superintendent of Police Rahul Patel said, “There is no security guard at the closed rice mill, so people can enter without any hassle. There were injury marks on the body. We suspect that she might have been raped before being killed, and this will be confirmed once the autopsy report comes.”
“The victim is yet to be identified. Our teams are on the road with her photos to identify her. There are no CCTV cameras in the area. Once she is identified, it will be easier for us to apprehend the accused,” Patel added.
