There would have been no bloodshed in Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and Palestine if Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings were practiced across the world, Governor Acharya Devvrat said Tuesday as he remembered the Father of the Nation on his death anniversary.
A week after the Ram Temple consecration in Ayodhya, the Governor also invoked Lord Ram in his address at an event held by Gujarat Vidyapith.
“Pujya Bapu had used the word ‘Ram Rajya’ (an idea of an ideal state mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana). The character of Lord Ram and his life are ideal for everyone. Along with material development, Bapu was also strongly committed to spiritual progress. That is why he spoke of Ram Rajya. His message was that non-violence is the supreme religion.
Let us contribute with devotion to our duties so that Swarajya becomes Surajya and Ram Rajya is established,” Devvrat, who is also the Chancellor and Governor of Gujarat Vidyapith, said at Kochrab Ashram on Tuesday. Gujarat Vidyapith was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920.
On Tuesday, the varsity organised a march of students from Vidyapith to Kochrab Ashram to mark Gandhi’s death anniversary. The event started with an all-religion prayer.
On the ongoing conflicts across the world, the Governor said, “If this world adopts the thoughts of Pujya Bapu then war between Russia and Ukraine would not have happened. There would be no bloodshed in Israel and Palestine. This world would not have been sitting on the dust of destructive bombs and gunpowder. Come, let us all imbibe the message of Pujya Bapu and spread his thoughts to the masses,” he added.
