Gujarat Congress Friday alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct by the BJP as the state is going to have by-elections to two Lok Sabha and four Assembly seats on June 2. In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath, state Congress general secretary Khurshid Saiyed said the BJP government was openly “misusing” government machinery to influence voters. Several state ministers,BJP MPs and MLAs are touring the poll-bound areas where they were not registered as voters.

“As per MCC,all outsiders should leave the constituencies by 6 PM today as campaigning has ended,” it said. The letter also sought that CEC should give appropriate directions for deployment of para-military forces at vulnerable polling booths.
