Amul’s latest: A ‘super milk’ with 5 times more protein
A 200 ml pouch of this ‘super milk’ will have 30 gm of protein and will be sold on Amul’s e-commerce portal, Jayen Mehta, in-charge MD of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, said.

Amul is set to soon launch a ‘super milk’ with five times more protein than usual.
“We will be launching high protein fresh milk and dahi (curd) soon. A pouch of 200 ml of this super milk will have 30 gm of protein. Currently, 200 ml milk sold in the market has only 6 gm of protein. The protein levels will be boosted five times,” Jayen Mehta, in-charge managing director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) told The Indian Express on the sidelines of ‘TiECon Ahmedabad’.
“This milk will be launched as PET bottles or cartons and will be made available only through the e-commerce portal of Amul,” Mehta said, adding that the Amul products are reaching consumers directly through the e-commerce deliveries in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
Earlier, while addressing the flagship annual conference of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Ahmedabad, Mehta said, “All of us need 1 gm of protein per kg of our body weight on a daily basis. If we are vegetarians, our sources are limited and it is difficult to get the protein needed for our bodies.”
Amul has already launched high-protein lassi, milkshakes and buttermilk, which it sells directly to consumers through its e-commerce platform. These products, however, contain 15-20 gm of protein. The milk cooperative also sells whey protein which costs Rs 2,000 for 960 gm.
