AMC seals Trade Centre complex

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Estate Department on Thursday sealed the Trade Centre complex on the upmarket C G Road on grounds of violation of building by-laws. The complex accommodates 200 shops. In the last two days,the Estate Department has sealed several buildings like Agrawal Complex,Om Complex and Maradia Plaza in the vicinity of C G Road owing to violation of building by-laws. Mayor Asit Vora told The Indian Express that the sealing drive is being conducted across the city and that AMC is taking action against all buildings constructed in violation of the by-laws. He said AMC will take strict action against builders who have encroached upon parking spaces to construct shops,stores and godowns,which has led to parking problems for the residents and the visitors alike.

Civic officials said most of the buildings flouting bye-laws were located in the west zone,including the commercial hub of CG Road and the nearby areas. An official said there are as many as 57 such buildings in the west zone and action will be taken against all of them.
