Forty-eight teams, comprising a total of 339 participants (230 boys and 109 girls participants) from 15 states across the nation, will work on 10 problem statements at the Smart India Hackathon 2024 Grand Finale (Software Edition) at Sivanand Ashram in Ahmedabad.
The two-day event, supported by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of Education, is slated to be held on December 11 and 12. Jointly organised by Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and Space Applications Centre (SAC), a lead centre of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Ahmedabad, the event will have 19 teams participate from GTU-affiliated colleges and five teams will represent GTU.
Sharing details on the 10 problem statement domains in the seventh edition of the hackathon, Nilesh M Desai, Director of Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, said, “These include lunar exploration, remote sensing, air quality monitoring, satellite communication and navigation, geospatial mapping, cyber security, Artificial intelligence and web mapping. A paradigm shift is expected from this edition of the hackathon as the students can develop their own set ups with the help of ISRO.”
Adding further, he said, “The hackathon was launched with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a startup nation like Israel. SIH 2024 has achieved significant milestones so far, including the participation of 8,98,884 students, over 6,000 innovators, and 3,896 institutions.
