Earlier, Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre had written to CM Siddaramaiah seeking a CID or SIT probe into the alleged role of officials and government lawyers in facilitating the grab of government and forest land.

Shamanuru Shivashankarappa had a complex relationship with Siddaramaiah, having been removed from the Cabinet during the CM's first term but later reconciled.

Siddaramaiah, in a written response to the unstarred question, noted that payments for the use of 48 aircraft/helicopter was made in the 2023-24 fiscal. The cost incurred for the flights was 12.23 crore.
