Hibi Eden biography

Hibi George Eden, commonly known as Hibi Eden, is a prominent Indian politician hailing from Ernakulam, Kerala. Born on April 19, 1983, he has made significant contributions to both state and national politics.

Hibi Eden’s political journey is rooted in his family legacy. He is the son of the late George Eden, a long-time member of Parliament from the Ernakulam constituency. Following in his father’s footsteps, Hibi joined the Indian National Congress and emerged as a dynamic leader. His early life was marked by personal challenges. Losing his mother at a young age, Hibi and his younger sister were raised by their aunt. Despite these hardships, he persevered and carved a path in politics.

Hibi Eden’s political career began when he was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Kerala from the Ernakulam district in 2011. His victory made him the youngest member in the Assembly. Prior to this, he had served as the president of the NSUI, the National Students’ Union of India, demonstrating his leadership skills and commitment to student welfare.

In subsequent years, Hibi continued to make his mark. He secured re-election in the 2016 assembly elections, once again representing Ernakulam. His dedication to public service resonated with voters, and he won by a significant margin.

Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Hibi contested from the Ernakulam constituency and emerged victorious with a remarkable margin of over 1.6 lakh votes against his nearest rival. In 2024, he went on to retain his seat by defeating his closest rival, K. J. Shine of CPI(M), by 2.5 lakh votes.

Beyond politics, Hibi Eden is a family man. He is married to Anna Linda, a Malayalam channel anchor, and they have a daughter named Clara Eden. As a devout member of the Keralite Latin Catholic community, Hibi enjoys the support of the Church.

His commitment to public service, leadership qualities, and dedication to his constituents continue to define Hibi Eden’s political journey. As a representative of Ernakulam, he remains a steadfast advocate for the people of Kerala.
