PAU sells soil for peanuts,buys it at highly inflated rates a month later

In violation of their own contractual norms regarding disposal of soil,Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) authorities first sold excess earth — gained from work on a STP project — for a meagre Rs 20 per cubic metre before buying the same commodity at a highly inflated Rs 305 per cubic metre for the construction of an auditorium,a month later.

Rain deficit at 22%: Ferozepur,Moga worst hit

With July bringing in very little rainfall,data provided by Punjab Agricultural University revealed that Punjab’s monsoon deficit has hit 22 per cent with Ferozepur and Moga districts suffering the brunt of the drought with a deficit of 93 per cent.

State Agriculture Minister Jathedar Tota Singh on Wednesday demanded that the Centre should pitch in to fund the Punjab Agricultural University,as “it can only function with the help of funds provided by the state and the Union governments”.
