Lucknow, Feb 18 (ANI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has done nothing for Dalits in Uttar Pradesh and added that the latter is of the view that their plight would drastically change for the better if the Congress Party joins hands with them. Targetting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he said both wanted to suppress the poor and the downtrodden sections of society.Before reaching the venue of the event he was to address, BJP activists greeted the Congress vice president with black flags.

Johrat, Feb 15 (ANI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged the 'anti-poor' BJP- led government at the Centre has failed to fulfill the promises it made to the nation, adding that the Prime Minister is more concerned about the business class and is least bothered about the downtrodden. He added that ever since BJP came into power, none of the individual has got employment. He alleged that BJP rule has led to communal fights. He further said that RSS is trying to control people views and is becoming the institution of granting license as to who is a nationalist or anti-nationalist.

Dalit student suicide case: Cong flays Dattatreya

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Tuesday alleged that Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya was somewhere "anti-Dalit" in nature. He said the reason behind the Dalit student suicide has not been clearly stated. He added that the Congress has always tried to be with the downtrodden at large and would continue to do so. Meanwhile, commenting on the issue, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the incident that happened in the Hyderabad University was unfortunate and offenders would be punished soon. He added that Bandaru Dattatreya is a person who is compassionate about Dalits and targeting him for political gain is not fair.
