Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a seasoned politician and former Chief Minister of Haryana, is once again at the forefront of state politics as the 2024 Assembly elections approach. He is contesting from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi Assembly seat.
Born on September 15, 1947, in Sanghi, Haryana, Hooda comes from a prominent Jat family with a strong political lineage. He inherited his political acumen from his father, Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Hooda, a freedom fighter and member of the Constituent Assembly of India.
Hooda's political career began in earnest when he was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991. He has since served four terms as a Member of Parliament and was elected as the Chief Minister of Haryana in 2005, a position he held for two consecutive terms until 2014. Under his leadership, Haryana witnessed significant economic growth, particularly in the agricultural and industrial sectors. His focus on infrastructure development, including the expansion of road networks and irrigation projects, earned him widespread popularity, especially among the rural electorate.
Despite all challenges, Hooda remains a formidable force in Haryana politics, with a strong base among the Jat community, which constitutes a significant portion of the state's population.
As the 2024 Assembly elections draw near, Hooda is positioning himself as a key contender, emphasizing his experience and track record of development. With the Congress party facing stiff competition from the ruling BJP and emerging regional players, Hooda's leadership and electoral strategy will be crucial in determining the party's success in the upcoming polls. His ability to galvanize support across different communities and navigate the complex political landscape of Haryana will be central to his campaign as he seeks to reclaim the Chief Minister's chair.
