RTI activist Amit Jethva was shot dead outside Gujarat High Court on July 20, 2010, for reportedly exposing illegal mining activities in Gir Forest by former BJP MP Dinu Bogha Solanki.

Amit was slain outside the Gujarat High Court in 2010. The case's investigation was first handled by Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch and later it was handed over to the CBI. The CBI after arresting Dinu Solanki chargesheeted him for hatching a conspiracy and murder.

Amit Jethva was shot outside the high court in 2010 allegedly at the behest of former BJP MP Dinu Bogha Solanki. He had been exposing Solanki's alleged illegal mining. The court also directed to transfer the special CBI judge who had concluded the trial.

CBI argued that Solanki had a strong motive behind hatching conspiracy to murder Jethva since “the deceased (Jethva) started a crusade against personal and commercial activities of Solanki and his nephew”.
