The BCAS circular ordered all airports in the country to seize satellite phone and detain the person in possession of it. In the first two years after the the ban came into effect, six foreign nationals were detained at domestic and international airports in Mumbai.

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE MUMBAI,AUGUST 19 The sketch of the suspect who attacked 28-year-old American national Michelle Marks onboard a local between Marine Lines and Charni Road Sunday was released by the Government Railway Police (GRP) Monday. P S Bijwe,Assistant Commissioner of Police (Bandra division),GRP,said 28 persons,mostly drug addicts frequenting railway stations,have been rounded up for questioning based on the description provided by the victim. At 4.30 pm Sunday,Marks,a resident of Goregaon,boarded a first class ladies compartment of a slow train from Churchgate. At Marine Lines,the attacker entered the compartment and tried to snatch her mobile phone. When she resisted,he slashed her right hand,cheek and neck before snatching her iPhone. He fled from platform 1 at Charni Road station. According to the description by the victim,the suspect might be in his mid-20s. He was lean and wore a red shirt and grey trousers,said the officer. The GRP suspects the assault to be the handiwork of a drug addict. We have formed four teams comprising an officer each. We have already questioned 28 people,mostly drug addicts who frequent railway stations, said Bijwe. Asked about CCTV footage,the officer said,The footage was not of much help as the camera was at a distance and did not clearly capture the movement near the compartment in which the victim was travelling. However,we will be showing the footage to the victim to help her identify the suspect. According to the police,the victim has been shown the faces of history sheeters. However,her description has not matched with anyone yet. Marks has been staying in Mumbai with her brother for the past 16 months. She works with an NGO. On Sunday she had gone to attend mass at a church in Colaba,and was on her way back home when the incident took place. mumbai.newsline@expressindia.com
