A 37-year-old American national of Indian origin was arrested by the Colaba Police on Monday for allegedly raping and cheating a married woman,also an American national of Indian origin. The 37-year-old woman alleged that Vikram Dravid,claiming that she was the reincarnation of a goddess,raped her over a period of four years.
Senior inspector Vinod Sawant said,Dravid has been booked for rape and cheating. Investigations are on.
The victim in her complaint mentioned that Dravid first raped her in 2008 in an apartment owned by Dravids family in Colaba. He allegedly told her that he was the devotee of a god and she was the reincarnation of the gods wife. She claims called her to meet him several times after that incident,and raped her on each occasion, said an officer.
The officer said that Dravid also allegedly made the woman buy expensive gifts. He told her that as he was a godman,anything she bought for him would increase her chances of being blessed. The woman said she did not suspect him at that time, said the officer.

After the complaint was registered,we nabbed Dravid. He has been remanded in police custody till August 10, said the officer.
In his statement to the police,Dravid said that he did not force himself upon the woman and that the act was not rape.
We will have to verify his claims. Nothing can be said at this juncture, said the officer.
In March this year,the victims husband approached the ninth metropolitan magistrates court in Bandra and filed a case of adultery against Dravid.
The husband claimed that the incident had allegedly taken place at the Mahim home of his wifes parents.
The victim and Dravid allegedly met in the US in 2001. She is software executive and Dravid is an MBBS.
Dravid told the police that in 2008,he came to Pune to do a diploma in medicine,but has not yet completed the course.
