Iñarritu joked on the red carpet, "I wanted 13 (nominations) but ok, that's fine, it's enough. No, I am very happy, very honoured." he called the performance "an amazing job". (Source: AP)

On hearing the news of him being nominated, Leonardo DiCaprio said: “I am so grateful to the Academy for their recognition of this film. Making ‘The Revenant’ was one of the most rewarding and collaborative experiences of my life.”
The pioneer-era drama is about a man who is left for dead by his expedition companions after being attacked by a bear.
