How do you watch a film you know will pan out exactly as you think it will from its first frame? By sitting stoically through ‘Pyar Impossible’,the latest rom com from Yashraj Films, hoping for at least one little surprise—a look,a scene,a line. Please, just one? In vain,in vain.

Alisha Merchant ( Priyanka) is the best looking girl of some make-believe university in California. Abhay Sharma ( Uday) is the geekiest of all resident geeks, who wears braces and glasses, and does everyone’s projects and papers. He loves her from afar. She doesn’t even know he exists.

Cut to later. Seven years pass, and the action shifts to Singapore. Abhay is still single, and still hopelessly in love. As befits Bollywood geeks,he is also a software expert . Alisha is a single mom, with a precocious six year old. They meet, and everything happens exactly as the script says it should, with a few songs thrown in.

Priyanka looks stunning in short sheaths and swish hair cut. Uday holds bravely on to his dreadful parted-in-the-middle locks. The kid, who’s so insufferable in her introductory sequence that you want to make her disappear, becomes the reason for these two to interact. And,of course, she is the one who shows her silly blind mom, who’s getting attracted to the wrong guy ( Morea),the path to true love. Now where have we seen this before?
