Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise high value currency notes and curb black money hoarding and corruption has left people across the country in utter chaos and confusion. While on one side, there are people standing in long queues outside ATMs and banks, there are others who are trying to figure a way out of this sudden jolt, by some way or the other.

In this case, a Bengaluru man claims he caught a hotel apparently trying to convert black money into white in a really clever way. Midhun Noble took to Facebook to call out the hotel, where he had gone to pick up food for his office. While most shopkeepers and trade dealers are insisting that any form of transactions be made either through online payments or the new currency, Hotel Adigas in Bengaluru’s Church Street instead were adamant that Noble pays them in cash. To his shock, the hotel handed out the bill with past date.
They were apparently trying to push up the sales in previous months and then remit the money as sales done way before the PM’s announcement.
Posting a photo of the receipt he was given, this is what Noble wrote on Facebook.
“Yesterday I went to #Adigas hotel in church street to order food for my office. To my surprise they refused to accept cards and insisted on paying by cash. After receiving the bill and checking the date on the bill it is given as 01/09/2016. What an intelligent way to adjust your books and convert black money to white by pushing up the sales in previous months and remitting the amount as sales done in previous months. Most of us don’t even read our bills, so next time please ensure you spend a 20 seconds on the bill details and insist on bills after every purchase. It’s a shame such iconic names like Adigas is doing this. Let’s contribute to our PM’s efforts.”
The prime minister’s demonetisation move has left a lot of people stranded, with many not having cash to pay hospital bills or even buy the basic necessities.
