On Flickr, Apple’s iPhones dominated as the favourite camera brand for 2015, beating even DSLR brands like Canon and Nikon.
According to Flickr’s year in review post, Apple beat out rival Samsung in the year 2015 and by the end of the year, the Cupertino-tech giant had a share of nearly one third of the photos uploaded on Flickr.
The post notes that “Canon’s share fell significantly and Nikon continued its slow decline”, although Sony and Fujifilm managed to stay steady in 2015.

Flickr’s data shows that in 2015, “18% of Flickr photographers used Apple and Canon together, followed by Nikon at 15%.” The data from Flickr shows that photography enthusiasts are now going for a mix of a cameraphone and DSLR on the website.
Flickr’s data notes that of the top 20 spots, eight have gone to Apple. Samsung Galaxy S4 is the first Android device in the list at the 11th spot. More evidence of Apple’s dominance can be seen from the fact that the “top 18 camera pairings” on the site are iPhones to iPhones.
Other pairings that are popular are: the Canon 5D mark II and III which is paired frequently with iPhones.
