105′ No goals after first half of extra time. 15 minutes more or penalties!

103′ Giaccherini is booked now for Italy.

99′ Pelle and De Sciglio then

91′ Pelle is booked. And if Italy reach the semis, he won’t be part of the squad.

FULL TIME: It is 1-1 after 90 minutes – just like Portugal vs Poland. That stayed 1-1 after extra time too and went to penalties. Will this follow suit?

91′ Hummels is booked. He misses the semi if Germany get there.

90′ Three minutes added on

86′ First Italy change: Florenzi off for Darmian

81′ CHANCE! Italy with a quick counter spearheaded by Florenzi who passes it to Eder who in turn plays it to Pelle. The Southampton player takes the shot but it takes a deflection to go away for a corner.

78′ Bonucci takes it and scores! Italy level matters at 1-1! The Juventus player goes to Neuer’s left and into the corner. No stopping that!

76′ PENALTY FOR ITALY! Boateng handballs inside the box! The German defender tries to block the Italian attacker while having his hands in the air and it touches his hand. Referee points to the spot

71′ CHANGE: Mario Gomez goes off for Draxler.

57′ Valid point, Oli!

56′ De Sciglio is booked. He misses the semis if Italy make it.

52′ CLOSE! Mueller has a whack but it is blocked for a corner. Gomez holds up the ball superbly to lay it off for Mueller who takes it on the left foot but it is acrobatically cleared away.

46′ Second half underway

40′ CHANCE! Cross chipped into the box by Kimmich and Gomes attacks it but the header is over. Clever play by Germany to employ something different to catch Italy out.

33′ To emphasise the possession point, it doesn’t matter if Italy have low possession. You can count on them to hit the opposition even with less of the ball.

31′ De Sciglio makes his way down the left and aims a low cross for Giaccherini but it is cleared away by Boateng.

30′ Half an hour gone, Italy having slight difficulty getting into things. Just 39% possession for them.

26′ FOUL! Schweinsteiger gets the ball into the back of the net but he had already been fouled for pushing and shoving in the Azzurri box. Stays 0-0.

23′ Eder gets accidentally hit in the nose by Howedes and the Italian player is bleeding.

21′ Will it happen?

19′ CLOSE! Gomez gets a toe in after getting away from Chiellini. Lovely long ball to the lone striker by Hummels but it gets a little in front of him to have a go at the goal.

19′ Appears like a groin strain for Khedira.

15′ Early blow for Germany. Khedira can’t continue after picking up a knock earlier, replaced by Schweinsteiger

11′ No attacking chances for either side but plenty of energy in use. Germany, usually the kinds to press their opponents, has been a little reluctant so far. But then again, early days…

3′ Looks like Germany have lined up as 3-5-1-1. Not a back four and Gomez alone upfront.

Italy: Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Florenzi, Parolo, Sturaro, Giaccherini, De Sciglio, Pelle, Eder
