Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa suffered cardiac arrest on Sunday evening. According to a bulletin sent out by Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, where Jayalalithaa has been admitted since September 22, she is undergoing treatment and the doctors are closely monitoring her health. Security has been beefed up in the state with over 1,000 police personnel being employed on the street to maintain law and order. Supporters have gathered outside the hospital and praying for her speedy recovery. September 22, 2016: Jayalalithaa admitted at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai after she complained of fever and dehydration. October 2, 2016: The Apollo Hospitals said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is being treated for “infection” and is “responding well”. October 6, 2016: After a check-up by AIIMS doctors, the health bulletin said the Tamil Nadu CM will have to stay longer in hospital. Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi visits hospital. October 10, 2016: Apollo Hospitals says that Jayalalithaa is under 'respiratory support'. DMK leader M K Stalin visits hospital to meet with her. October 12, 2016: The portfolios of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa allocated to state Finance Minister O Panneerselvam by Tamil Nadu Governor, though she continued to be the CM of the state. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and BJP President Amit Shah visit Apollo Hospitals to check on Jayalalithaa's condition. October 13, 2016: The expert team of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), along with a UK-based specialist, who had earlier examined J Jayalalithaa, visited Apollo hospital again. October 15, 2016: DMK chief Karunanidhi’s wife visits Apollo hospital to enquire about Jayalalithaa's health. November 5th 2016: Apollo Hospitals chief says that J Jayalalithaa has recovered. November 17, 2016: AIADMK leader says Jayalalithaa’s lung infection has been cured and she is breathing without respiratory support. November 20: AIADMK assures that Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa will return home soon. December 4, 2016: AIADMK says Jayalalithaa will return home “soon” as an AIIMS expert team has confirmed that she has completely recovered after over two months of hospitalisation.
