"By deciding not to appeal against the bail granted to Samjhauta blast accused Aseemanand, you are weakening India’s case on international front," Singh said

Equating Hafiz Sayeed with Swami Aseemanand, AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday said if Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honest about fighting terrorism, he should stop differentiating between Muslim terrorists and Hindu terrorists.

“By deciding not to appeal against the bail granted to Samjhauta blast accused Aseemanand, you are weakening India’s case on international front,” Singh said and alleged that “whether Aseemanand or the other accused in the Samjhauta blast case were all Sangh (RSS) activists.”

“Why are you not prosecuting him?” the Congress leader asked and added that the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) decision not to oppose bail to Aseemanand has prompted Pakistan to ask us the same question we asked of them: “Why are you not prosecuting Hafiz Sayeed?”

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said this in response to a question on the prime minister’s visit to a mosque in Abu Dhabi.

“I am happy that he has started visiting mosques. It’s a good sign. He was against wearing the skull cap and does not attend Iftar parties thrown by the President of India,’’ he said.

Singh claimed he was never against the hanging of Mumbai blast accused Yakub Menon and blamed the perception on right-wing elements that actively spread misinformation on the social media.
