Youth arrested for abusing Mamata on her Facebook page

Bapi had, in a very filthy language, commented on CM’s Facebook profile accusing her of being involved in anti-national activities.

A 24-year-old unemployed youth has been arrested in Malda district of West Bengal for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Facebook.

Bapi Pal, a resident of Janakinagar village, who worked as a Civic Police Volunteer, but now unemployed, was arrested Tuesday night after Zahirul Islam, president of TMC minority cell, Malda, filed a complaint at Harishchandrapur police station. “On October 13, Bapi had, in a very filthy language, commented on CM’s Facebook profile accusing her of being involved in anti-national activities and patronising banned Muslim terror outfits,” said a senior official of Harishchandrapur police station.

Bapi’s father Shankar Pal, however, claimed that his son was innocent. “ He is being framed,” Shankar said. A local court on Wednesday sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
