Kolkata’s House Of Horror: For months, father didn’t know Debjani had died, says Police
Experts said that other than a DNA test, a calcium and carbon dating test would also be done on the skeletons.

Three days after the recovery of skeletal remains of Partha De’s sister Debjani De and their two dogs, police said their father had come to know about Debjani’s death probably a few months after she died.
“We have got certain evidences from the spot that indicate that Arabinda, Partha’s father, had come to know of the death of Debjani a few months after it had happened. We have also come to know that as opposed to what Arabinda’s brother and nephew claimed, that they had severed all ties with Arabinda’s family and were not in talking terms with them, Arabinda kept a regular touch with them,” Muralidhar, DCP (south) said.
Arabinda’s brother Arun De and his son were called to Shakespeare Sarani police station on Sunday and were interrogated for nearly two hours.

Experts said that other than a DNA test, a calcium and carbon dating test would also be done on the skeletons and amino acid content would be ascertained to find out the probable period when she had died and whether she had died of starvation.
Asked why it had become so necessary to get a DNA test done on Debjani’s skeleton, Muralidhar said: “It is because from certain quarters, doubts are being raised whether it is Debjani’s skeleton. We need to eliminate that doubt.”
Meanwhile, doctors at Pavlov Mental Hospital, where Partha had been admitted, said he was not in a position to be interrogated. However, Muralidhar said they would find a way to interrogate him on Monday.
The police cleared the doubt over the death of Arabinda. “We had talked to the fire official who confirmed that he had to break into the bathroom which was bolted from inside and take out Arabinda’s charred body on June 10, at their Robinson Street residence,” he said.
On Sunday, Partha was mostly in a drowsy state at the hospital owing to the effect of medicines. He had asked for his preferred toothpaste and toothbrush and wanted a spoon, fork and towel at the breakfast table which were provided by hospital authorities.
He also played ludo for a while after lunch and doodled on a piece of paper which he had asked for. Two constables of Topsia police station have been posted outside his ward because of his family history of suicides.
