RBI chief Raghuram Rajan has announced that he won’t be running for second term as chief of central bank.
RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan on Saturday announced he won’t be seeking a second term as the chief of the central bank.
In a statement to his colleagues, the RBI chief said, “… on due reflection, and after consultation with the government, I want to share with you that I will be returning to academia when my term as Governor ends on September 4, 2016,” Rajan said in a message to the RBI staff.
While his decision to quit came as a surprise to many, here’s how Twitterati reacted to the news:
Raghuram Rajan’s exit leaves me a sad man. We really have no respect for good, capable people. We deserve the mediocre lot thrust on us.
