Two days after the Madhya Pradesh government sought his explanation on a Facebook post that he had allegedly written, purportedly calling for a people’s revolution against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, IAS officer Ajay Singh Gangwar disowned the comment in a reply faxed Wednesday. “I did not make that comment, and it does not figure on my timeline. I asked them where they got it from,’’ the former Barwani collector told The Indian Express late Wednesday night.

Gangwar was transferred to the Secretariat in Bhopal as deputy secretary but is yet to join duty. While the BJP government in the state insists the action against him has to do with his anti-Modi post, the bureaucrat says it stems from his praise of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Meanwhile, Narsingpur collector Sibi Chakkravarthy, who was asked to explain a Facebook post in which he had congratulated Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa on her electoral victory, has replied to the notice served a few days ago. Chakkravarthy refused to comment further.
