Lawmakers who had criticised the handling of the civil war in Syria have shown themselves to be “disconnected from reality” says Bashar Al-Assad
SYRIAN PRESIDENT Bashar al-Assad has said that India, as a growing power, has a role to play in meeting the challenge of terrorism as the two countries agreed to upgrade their security consultations.
Assad conveyed this to MoS for External Affairs M J Akbar when the latter called on him Saturday. “There was an agreement between both sides for further upgrading security consultations,” a source said.
During the meeting, Assad welcomed India’s position on the Syria conflict. On his part, Akbar said the age of destruction should give way to the age of reconstruction in Syria. Assad invited India to play an active role in reconstruction of the Syrian economy.
