10 Shiv Sena workers, arrested for barging into BCCI office, get bail

The Sena workers allegedly stormed into the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai and protesting against proposed talks with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief for resumption of bilateral cricketing ties.

10 Shiv Sena workers who were arrested for barging into BCCI (Mumbai) office, were granted bail by Magistrate’s court on surety of Rs 2000 each.

The Sena workers allegedly stormed into the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai and protesting against proposed talks with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shaharyar Khan for resumption of bilateral cricketing ties, police said.

The accused, belonging to Shiv Sena, allegedly stormed into the office of the BCCI, where its president Shashank Manohar was having a meeting with PCB officials, he said.

The ten people arrested are – Shailesh Sarvai, Vijay Manjerakar, Vilas Khot, Ramakant Bhosle, Pradeep Yeolakar, Satish Khot, Milind Jore, Anil Jadhav, Dilip Balkhede and Mahesh Gulgule.

“Apart from these ten arrested accused, we are also looking to act against 5-10 more persons who were part of the protest and violated Police Commissioner’s order to restrain from unlawful assembly,” a statement issued by Mumbai Police said.

The accused have been booked under IPC sections 141(unlawful assembly), 143, 149 and 37(1) and also section 135of the Mumbai Police Act.

They would be presented before a court later today, thepolice officer said, adding that accused had not sought prior permission to hold the protest.

In the morning, over hundred Shiv Sena workers staged a noisy protest against PCB chief Khan at the BCCI office here over the issue of resumption of cricketing ties between India and the neighbouring country.

This is the second time in eight days that Sena workers have been booked by Mumbai Police for protests against Pakistan and its dignitaries.

Last Monday, Police Mumbai had arrested six Sena workers for blackening the face of ORF chairman Sudheendra Kulkarni, ahead of former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri’s book launch in the city.
