International Yoga Day: Tihar jail inmates to get vocational yoga training

Tihar jail authorities in association with Panchvati Yogashram and Nature Cure Centre has organised a one-month Yoga training camp for jail inmates, which will conclude a day before World Yoga Day on June 21.

Tihar jail authorities in association with Panchvati Yogashram and Nature Cure Centre has organised a one-month Yoga training camp for jail inmates, which will conclude a day before World Yoga Day on June 21.

Around 7,000 inmates who are participating in the camp will also be a part of the celebrations on World Yoga Day at Tihar jail premises.

The inmates will also have an option to participate in a one-year vocational course for imparting yoga training.

“We will also provide employment opportunities for them (inmates) once they are out,” said Yogrishi Swami Ashutosh, Founder Panchvati Yogashram and Nature Cure Centre.

They discussed setting up a specialized enclosure for high-profile prisoners and addressed concerns about violence within the jail. As of 2024, India has made 178 extradition requests to various countries.
