Screen 63rd Anniversary/Best Compliments
Looking back with affection and admiration, stars pen their feelings as Screen completes 63 years

“On your 63rd anniversary, Good wishes & greater success through the coming years.”
He is quite the busy man through week days and even on Sundays. When we went to Janak, his office at Juhu to get the much coveted autograph and anniversary greetings for Screen, Big B was immersed in meetings and appointments, but he made time for our humble endeavour. And just a little later, he went out for that famous ritual — a wave to the swelling multitudes outside his home in Mumbai. Some stars are timeless for a reason.

“Love!”
The very striking Deepika Padukone who Homi Adajania described as the ‘sunshine’ in the lives of the Finding Fanny team, was quite enthusiastic and with a flourish penned her wishes on our clapperboard complete with a quaint heart!

“Thank you Screen for all the years of wonderful memories. Here’s to many more.”
Looking ravishingly ‘hot’ in a black crop top and trousers, Priyanka Chopra who was the showstopper for a top designer for a fashion show, was delighted to give her autograph and be clicked with our placard. She wished Screen another 60 years as she held aloft our quaint clapperboard.

“Happy Anniversary! Lots of love; Keep screening.”
Shah Rukh Khan, the king of all that he surveys was busy with his film’s editing and post-production work. Khan who always makes for great conversation with his vast knowledge and charm, spent a significant amount of time speaking about his film Happy New Year, and a whole range of other topics with characteristic ease. In the midst of all this, he barely spared himself time for a small working meal. His motivating words, “Keep Screening” has certainly kept the entire team smiling dreamily ever since.

“Happy Anniversary! More Power to you”
Dia Mirza was in a very happy frame of mind, as she breezed into the Screen office to participate in our Big Picture, in a smart top and a lace skirt. On learning that Screen was 63, she promptly said, we came about almost at the same time India got its independence. During the panel discussion, everyone present was pleasantly surprised when she spoke openly about her impending marriage to her partner Sahil Sangha. “I am very excited about it,” she unhesitantly gushed.

“Love & Luck Always!”
Shuttling between film shoots and endorsements, the beautiful Sonakshi Sinha called us backstage, during one of her brand launches, because of her, “special and long association with Screen” as she puts it. “The first time I saw my poster in Screen was from the Dabangg premiere, and I was so excited,” she recalled as she wrote her best wishes.

“Congrats! Love!”
He had spent quite some time answering queries about Satyamev Jayate’s upcoming season and, he was almost mobbed by some enthusiastic journalists. Yet, Aamir Khan, in the midst of dodging the media and fans who spotted him at a Mumbai multiplex, stopped and signed the clapper- board, and extended his good wishes to Screen.

“Love”
The beautiful actress who had just signed a film with Irrfan and was also present at a Mumbai lounge for the shoot with Irrfan, asked the other lensmen to wait as she gingerly took the pen from our photographer’s hand and signed on the clapperboard. With a curious smile playing on her lips, she scrawled her signature amidst much fanfare.

“Wishing Screen the Best.Keep it up!”
Looking dapper and all set for a photoshoot at a upscale Mumbai lounge with Kangana Ranaut, his co-star in an upcoming film, Irrfan took time off to wish Screen. And, even as there were people waiting for him, Irrfan first signed our clapperboard, before obliging others!

“Good show Screen!”
For all the idiosyncrasies he is known for, we thought getting wishes for Screen from Salman Khan is not going to be an easy task. But even as the star was busy with several interviews for the upcoming season of Bigg Boss, he spared time to wish us as he wrote, “Good show, Screen“, on our clapper board.

“Love!”
Kareena Kapoor Khan who recently celebrated her birthday, revealed a little secret to us when we met her at an endorsement event to get her autograph. Smilingly, as she penned her wishes for Screen, the actress told us that more than her, it was her hubby Saif Ali Khan, who was eager and excited to unwrap the gifts that she had received on her birthday!

“Dear Screen, lots of love & Best wishes..’100′ is not far away!”
“Anything for you”, chirped the effervescent Parineeti Chopra as she happily gave us her autograph even though she had a hectic schedule at an endorsement event. She made our day when she said that the 100th anniversary is not far away, and she hoped to be associated with Screen when we celebrate our century!

“Happy Anniversary!!! Lots of love”
When we met Aditya Roy Kapur, the actor was in an ebullient mood, promoting his film Daawat-e-Ishq. A self-confessed foodie, Kapur spoke about a food show he was a guest on, and gushed about the sumptuous food he had eaten in the evening. When we asked him to wish Screen, he put all matters aside, took the pen from us, and signed the clapperbord right away.

“WOW!! 63 glorious years!! Thank you for being a part of my Journey…All my Love!”
On the fateful, signing day, Hrithik Roshan turned up looking every inch the superstar that he is. At his sprawling apartment, despite directives of not being geared for getting photographed, he agreed like a star when it came to posing for Screen’s special anniversary issue. Not only did he sportingly pose for the picture, but he also scribbled a sweet message on the clapperboard with a quick smile.

“Best Wishes to Everybody! Love!”
The lovely actress who has packed a punch in her last film, Mardaani, was in a good mood as we caught up with her at an event where she was present with her director Pradeep Sarkar and co-star Tahir Raj Bhasin, to talk about the film’s success at the box-office. As she gave her autograph Rani Mukerji was all praise for our editor, mentioning that she brings a different focus to the paper. She dazzled with a smile, as she wished Screen on its 63rd anniversary.

“Congratulations! Love! Love”
The beautiful Katrina Kaif was all smiles as she spotted our photographer, trying to catch her attention with our clapperboard at event to launch the song of her upcoming film, Bang Bang. Surprised at us completing 63 long years, she first congratulated Screen, and then went on to write her wishes.

“Happy 63rd anniversary! Keep us glued to SCREEN for the next 63 years!”
What is striking about Vidya Balan is that despite her success, she remains a simple and caring person. As soon as she breezed out of the studio where she had been shooting for a jewellery brand, Balan inquired whether our photographer who had been waiting for a while, had eaten lunch. Only then did she go for a quick change of clothes to face the camera for us. Though the actress is very fond of accessories like big earrings, this time, she preferred to go for a more subtle look.

“SCREEN RULES! Happy 63rd!”
When it comes to Ranveer Singh, can any activity be mundane? Given his endless energy, it was no surprise that the young actor posed with pizazz, giving us the perfect shot. This, even when his spirits were down due to a close friend’s tragic demise. Never mind, his unconventional ways, this star is turning out to be quite our favourite for his liveliness.

“Keep rocking!”
Anupam Kher who was present at the first look launch of his film, The Shaukeens with co-stars Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra, was full-of-beans as he wished Screen on its 63rd anniversary. He told us he has very fond memories of the paper, as the first interview he gave as an actor was to Screen!

“Wish you the most incredible 63rd year! Here’s to 63 more!!! All my Love!”
It was the clapperboard that most fascinated The Lunchbox heroine, Nimrat Kaur. Taking it in her hand, she gave it a good look before she exclaimed, “Wow”. Holding it gingerly, she wanted to know what she had to do? When told about Screen’s 63rd anniversary, she was quick to pen a few encouraging words and happily posed with the board.

“Keep Rocking! All the best.”
The sultry Bipasha Basu made us glow with pride, when she said that she had been reading Screen for the last 14 years. She stated that ever since she stepped into the industry, our magazine had been instrumental in taking her career forward. No wonder, even though she was busy promoting her film, she didn’t mind spending time on the photoshoot, following our photographer’s decree, till he was satisfied that he had captured her best angles!

“To the wise old man, Happy 63rd Anniversary!”
When we reached Pune where he was shooting for an action scene for his film, Abhay Deol excused himself from being photographed on that day because his face was splattered with ‘blood’. When we met him again on the sets of his television show, he willingly agreed as he was dressed more appropriately! And, sure enough, the actor who looked dapper that day, obliged us, saying he hoped Screen continued to being just as fabulous and creative as it had been in the past 63 years.

“Wow & Congratulations! Many Many More Glorious Years to come:START, SOUND, CAMERA AND…GET WIRED WRITING!!”
Even though Raveena Tandon had to wait a bit before her session took off, she did not mind. But seeing that a lot of curious people had gathered around, she opted to sit in a slightly secluded place – in this case the high end lounge in our building and sipped on a diet coke as she chatted with our editor.

“To Screen, Keep up the good work!”
The industry kid who said he had grown up reading Screen, and now loved being featured in it, was curious about the little clapperboard that we had designed. Generally in a good mood as his film Finding Fanny had had got a good response, Kapoor who was still promoting the film, quickly wrote his wishes on the mini board with a huge grin on his face!

“63 years! WOW!!”
When we met him, he had just arrived from UK (where he was shooting for Shaandar), to promote his upcoming film Haider. Taking time off from his busy schedule, Shahid Kapoor flashed his charming smile as he gave his autograph, “It’s a magazine that I always read,” he said, adding that Screen had a fabulous team, sending the young members of our team in a tizzy.
Along with Shahid, we also caught Shraddha Kapoor at a brand endorsement event. Despite several guests and fans hovering around the young actress, she decided to sign our clapperboard first, before obliging them with autographs and photographs.

“Congrats Screen! Timeless, Eternal & Classic! Lots of love!”
We caught up with Vivek Oberoi at his sprawling bungalow where he was promoting a blood donation campaign. When we asked him to sign our clapperboard, he took us to his favourite corner in the living room, which is neatly lined with books and trophies — That’s where he preferred to pose with a charming smile and express his appreciation on our clapperboard.

“Been reading Screen for longer than I can remember.”
The pretty Sonam Kapoor, nattily attired as always, giggled, as she said that Screen is a senior citizen writing about youngsters, and has everyone listening to what it has to say! Being her usual cheerful self as she chatted about her film Khoobsurat, Sonam quickly penned her appreciation for us.
