The roles are not direct copies of Rusty and Danny but instead Bullock and Blanchett’s characters’ relationship will be inspired by that depicted by Clooney and Pitt.

Gary Ross is slated to direct after developing the idea and approaching original director Steven Soderburgh.

Ross’s involvement could also mean an appearance by his longtime collaborator Jennifer Lawrence, with rumours that the actress may sign on already circulating.

Currently the project is being referred to as Ocean’s Ocho – implying we can expect a gang of eight to be behind the heist.
