Madhur Bhandarkar keen to make films on Bengali literature

“I am a great admirer of Bengali sensibilities in different forms of art. So,it remains a possibility to make films on Bengali literary works,” he said.

Madhur Bhandarkar,in town to attend a FICCI Ladies organisation meet,though ruled out that possibility for his next two films whose subjects have been decided already.

“I have heard a lot about the present film on Ritwik’s life. I wish to catch up with the new Meghe Dhaka Tara whenever possible,here or in Mumbai,” he said.

The director,who has made films like Page 3,Traffic

Signal and Fashion,said he wants to stick to the kind of cinema he is familiar with.

“I want to stick to the type of cinema I am familiar with,hard-hitting which shows behind-the-scene facts. This is my forte.”

Talking about how life has changed after directing critically acclaimed movie ‘Chandni Bar’,he said,”I visited over 60 bars for research into the subject and finally got hold of such voluminous inputs that many of them could not be referred or incorporated in ‘Chandni Bar’.”
