After backlash from the Twitterati and the media, Farah Khan Ali has apologised for her remarks in a series of tweets. “…I would like to offer an unconditional apology for my tweets ref the homeless sleeping on the streets,” the Mumbai-based jewellery designer tweeted on Friday. However, the apology came a bit too late, as a district court in Bihar has now ordered an FIR to be registered against singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Khan Ali for their remarks against people sleeping on the pavement after actor Salman Khan’s conviction in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

Rishi Kapoor tweeted:

Singer Mika thanked all those who had prayed for Salman Khan.

Bhattacharya on May 6 posted on the microblogging site, “Roads are meant for cars and dogs not for people sleeping on them”. On Friday morning, a group of pavement dwellers held a protest outside the High Court while Khan’s bail plea was being heard. They carried placards that read, “We are city makers not dogs, Abhijeet.”

Rishi Kapoor was back to tweeting on Friday after threatening to quit the previous day. Soon after Khan got bail, Kapoor tweeted: “Welcome reprieve for Salman.

Bina Kak, who had played Salman Khan’s mother in ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya,’ also expressed her happiness.

Ameesha Patel, who had visited the actor at his Bandra residence yesterday, was also happy that her friend had got bail.

Unprecedented reaction to this news…”. The veteran actor had earlier reprimanded Bhattacharya for his insensitive tweets and posted on Thursday: “Hi. Thought about it. Too much negativity abusive language and disregard for seniors. Will retire from Twitter coz it has only given me grief.”

After the Bombay High Court suspended the actor’s sentence and granted him bail till June 21, celebrity friends of Khan like actor Ameesha Patel, singer Mika Singh and actor-director Satish Kaushik took to Twitter to wish him well. Patel tweeted, “So happppppy to hear the good news that @BeingSalmanKhan has got bail. Prayers of all have been answered.” Kaushik tweeted, “Joy and Happiness for @BingSalmanKhan and family.. all prayers were listened to .. jai mahasar maa.”
