Woman detained in Rs 2.09 crore Vashi robbery case

The accused entered the house pretending to give a gift, tied up the wife and the daughter of the trader and fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.09 crore.

Vashi police have detained a woman in connection with Friday’s robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.09 crore from a trader’s house at Vashi in Navi Mumbai. She is believed to have tipped off the six persons involved in the crime about the cash and valuables in the house of the vegetable trader. The woman, who had earlier been arrested by the Navi Mumbai police in another case, is believed to have a personal rivalry with the wife of the trader that prompted her to tip off the six accused about the money kept at the house.

An officer said, “The woman had a dispute about some loan she had taken from the complainant’s wife. She was looking to get back at the family. We are still looking for the six who actually carried out the dacoity.” The six unidentified accused included a woman. They entered the house pretending to give a gift, tied up the wife and the daughter of the trader and fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.09 crore.
