On Sachan wife’s complaint,police lodge murder FIR

Reacting to the development,Malti Sachan said while the registration of FIR was alright,“we want investigation by the CBI.” Dr Sachan’s elder brother R K Sachan,too,said the issue of impartial investigation remained. “If the real culprits have to be nabbed,the government must transfer the case to CBI,” he said.

In her complaint to the police sent on Thursday,Malti Sachan had alleged that her husband was murdered at the behest of influential persons involved in financial bungling in the Family Welfare Department. She had also faxed the complaint to Principal Secretary (Home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur,DGP Karamvir Singh,and Lucknow DIG D K Thakur. But the police said they could not lodge an FIR because a judicial inquiry was on.

Dr Sachan,who the Cabinet Secretary claimed was the main accused in the murder of CMO Dr B P Singh and allegedly linked to the murder of Dr Singh’s predecessor Dr Vinod Arya,was found dead in a toilet on the unused first floor of the jail building on Wednesday night.

The body rested on the commode,with the belt of his trousers around Dr Sachan’s neck and the other end tied to the grill of the ventilator. There was blood on the floor.

In the post-mortem,it was found that the Dr Sachan had bled to death from eight cuts on the body,while the ligature mark on his neck,caused by the belt,was suffered after death.

The government claimed that it was suicide,and the death was recorded as an entry in the general diary of the Gosainganj police station.

Dr Sachan was arrested on April 5,allegedly in connection with certain irregularities which surfaced during investigation of the murder of Dr B P Singh who was shot dead by two motorcycle riders when he was taking a morning walk on April 2.

On June 17,the Cabinet Secretary alleged that Dr Sachan had got his boss murdered through hired killers because he was angry that Dr Singh had asked him to be ready to face inquiry for financial irregularities.
