Lieutenant General Philip Campose took charge as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command on Monday. At a ceremony held at Chandimandir,the officer paid homage to the martyrs at Veer Smriti. Later,a guard of honour was given to him. Campose was commissioned in the 9th Gorkha Rifles in 1974 and is an alumnus of St Xaviers School,Delhi,the National Defence Academy,Pune,and Indian Military Academy,Dehradun. He has been awarded the Vishist Seva Medal and Ati Vishist Seva Medal for distinguished service. Recently,he also took over as colonel commandant of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment.
