Workshop for French teachers at DPS,Mathura Road
Delhi Public School,Mathura Road,under the aegis of DPS Society,hosted a workshop on ‘Introduction of DELF and DALF to French Language Teachers’ on February 22. The workshop was attended by more than 40 teachers from 20 DPS Schools of Delhi and NCR region.
M I Hussain,Principal,DPS,Mathura Road,welcomed the guests from the French Embassy in India which included Chantal Prost, Attachée for Cooperation in French Language, Daniel Rignault,Attaché for Cooperation in Education French Language and Education Section and Jatinder Singh,Deputy Head of Section,Education Section Cultural Service. Hussain also welcomed Renu Mital,Director,DPS Society,and complimented her for being the motivating force behind the endeavour. He described France as a beautiful country with fascinating architecture and culture characterised by
cold weather and warm people.
Renu Mital in her address,appreciated the efforts of DPS,Mathura Road,in playing the role of a “True Mother School”. She also emphasised that such workshops rejuvenate the French Faculty of DPS fraternity.
French Embassy in India proposed to introduce French Language teachers to DELF and DALF,the international certification examinations conducted by the French government for French Language Learners. Chantal Prost,was the resource-person for the workshop.
Blessing ceremony at Abhinav Public School,Pitampura

National Progressive Schools Conference at IIC
Shashi Tharoor ,Member of Parliament,addressed the principals and teachers of the member schools at the National Progressive Schools Conference at the India International Centre.
Many schools such as DPS,Bal Bharti and Mother’s International participated in the conference. The main agenda of the conference was effective learning and exploring new vistas. Tharoor emphasised on the fact that India has an advantage over other countries as we have a large working population and the best minds of the country are still in school.
He said,Schools should not consider themselves as fortress of knowledge and should be ready to constantly change.
Tharoor advised the schools to inculcate value education and sensitivity amongst schools. He also mentioned a survey which found that 70 per cent of the students in an elite schools were insensitive to AIDS patients.
Tharoor spoke of the sorry state of the village schools and rampant absenteeism of teachers in such schools.
The next session focussed on the importance of art,values and heritage. Geeta Chandra,Padmashri awardee and a distinguished dancer,spoke on re-enforcement of arts in schools. “Students do everything at stake,but arts is done because you love it.”
DAV Dwarka attends sports clinic at Australian High Commission
Twenty two athletes of DAV Dwarka were blessed with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and play with international cricketers Dean Jones and Kapil Dev. The programme was organised by Red Dust India Foundation,an Indian NGO,set up as counterpart of an Australian NGO,which works in the field of sport and music for the development of children. The students were invited to the Australian High Commission on February 22 to attend a sports clinic which had guest coaches from Cricket Victoria. The students had a memorable time on the field among international cricketers and coaches.
The event also witnessed a major announcement by Victoria Premier Ted Baillieu regarding the possibility of Melbourne Cricket Ground being the next possible venue for 2015 ICC World Cup Final. The sports clinic was followed by a lunch for students along with the Australian delegates. The students were presented with a drink bottle,caps and cricket balls and the school was also given two cricket kits as a souvenir.
