Girl killed after truck hits auto, driver held

A 14-year-old girl was killed and three of her family members critically injured, after a speeding truck rammed into the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in. Police said the incident was reported early Saturday in Northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar area. Police have arrested the truck driver on charges of rash and negligent driving causing death.

The girl, Aarti, was sitting on her mother’s lap while her aunts were sitting beside her. “The auto-rickshaw was completely damaged. Aarti fell out of the vehicle. She sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
