The Delhi Police on Thursday have reportedly arrested the driver of the freight rickshaw that mowed down a 32-year-old man in West Delhi’s Subhash Nagar area early in the morning, according to ANI.
Matbool, 32, died after freight rickshaw rammed into him in Subhash Nagar in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The deceased belonged to West Bengal who used to work as an e-rickshaw driver during the day and a security guard at night.
Matbool was lying on the road, near the sidewalk, for almost an hour till the police was informed about the accident. No passerby came to his rescue even when a government hospital was just 500 metres from the accident spot.

The CCTV footage, which captured the accident, shows the driver of the auto rickshaw halting the vehicle to asses its damage before fleeing from the spot. While the driver ignored the victim lying by the road, another man was seen robbing the deceased off his mobile phone.
The police said Matbool was declared brought dead in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Delhi Home Minister Satyender Jain on Thursday said the government will soon announce a scheme where people, including drivers of taxis and autorickshaws, will be rewarded for taking victims to hospital.
