State Revenue Minister Gulab Singh Thakur, currently in Kerala,on Friday met his counterpart T Radha Krishnan and apprised him of the steps taken by Himachal Pradesh in implementing the Land Reforms Act and Land Holdings Act.
Himachal Pradesh has implemented the Land Reforms Act. The main objective of the Act is to protect the rights of the land owners and save them from any exploitation keeping in view limited land holdings, he said.
Thakur said Land Holdings Act envisaged a ceiling on land holdings with a view to controlling concentration of land in a few hands. This had helped in distributing surplus land among the landless.
