Chandigarh auction of registration numbers for motor vehicles: 0001 number of series CH-01-BG attracts highest bid of Rs 3.05 lakh
CH-01-BF-0007 emerged the second favourite number as it attracted the bid of Rs 2.25 lakh against reserve price of Rs 30,000.
With one day left for bidding, 0001 number of the series CH-01-BG has attracted the highest bid of Rs 3.05 lakh in the first e-auction of vanity registration numbers. The bidding process will close on Thursday.
CH-01-BF-0007 emerged the second favourite number as it attracted the bid of Rs 2.25 lakh against reserve price of Rs 30,000.
CH-01-BG-0003 was the third most sought after number among the bidders. Rs 1.18 lakh was quoted for it against reserve price of Rs 30,000.

Highest bid for CH-01-BG-0009 was Rs 1.10 lakh and highest bid for CH-01-BG-0005 was Rs 1.01 lakh. All other single digit numbers \-\ 0008 (Rs 66,000), 0006 (Rs 45,000), 0002 (Rs 43,000), 0004 (Rs 31,000) – failed to even cross the Rs 1 lakh-mark.
Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA), Chandigarh, in-charge Amit Talwar said that the picture would get clear by Thursday evening after the biding process ended.
The craze for vanity vehicle registration numbers has witnessed a fall in the city in recent auctions.
During the last auction, 0001number of the series CH-01-BF went for only Rs 3.05 lakh, one of the lowest in recent years. Auction for series CH-01-BE saw number 0001 fetching Rs 4.7 lakh. It was bought by village Badheri-based M/s Aman City Developers Company.
The number CH-01-BD-0001 fetched Rs 5.10 lakh and was purchased by Vijay Pal, a resident of Sector 8, who had bought the number for his new car – Jaguar XF. The fancy number in the series CH 01 AP, 0001, went for Rs 26 lakh. Till date, this is the highest amount made by the RLA in Chandigarh from any auction of registration numbers for motor vehicles. The lowest has been Rs 70000 for 0001 number of CH01 AF series.
The process of e-auction was a 10-day affair – seven days for registration and three days for bidding.
The successful bidders will be required to get their vehicles registered as well as to deposit the balance bid amount within one month from the date of auction, failing which penalty of 10% as well as interest at the rate of 10% on the balance amount would be charged till the date of payment. The result of the auction will be out on the website and the successful bidders will also be informed of the same via SMS and email.
