BJP MLA from Pavi Jetpur, Jayanti Rathwa, is facing arrest for allegedly assaulting a presiding officer at a polling station in Nani Amroli village during the Sunday’s election . Rathwa, who has close to 70 cases against him, was booked for voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty, Chhota Udepur police said.
The incident occurred on Sunday when Rathwa arrived at the polling station in Nani Amroli village in Pavi Jetpur taluka and entered the polling area. When the presiding officer asked him to leave the booth so as not to influence voters, Rathwa allegedly slapped the officer. Soon he was dragged away by security forces and, the Chhota Udepur police filed an FIR against him. While the FIR requires immediate arrest of Rathwa, police said the MLA is untraceable since Sunday evening.
