Modi Govt’s First Reaction to Delhi Blast: PM Reviews Situation With Amit Shah, Probe Ordered

The Modi government has issued its first official reaction to the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that left at least eight people dead and several others injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he has reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and senior officials, adding that those affected are being assisted by authorities. Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that the blast took place in a Hyundai i20 car near Subhash Marg, close to Lal Quila Metro Station. Multiple vehicles were damaged, and pedestrians injured. Within minutes, teams from Delhi Police’s Special Cell, NSG commandos, NIA, and forensic experts were deployed to the site. Amit Shah said a “thorough investigation” is underway and “no possibility is being ruled out.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also termed the incident “extremely painful,” extending condolences to the victims’ families. A high alert remains in place across Delhi and NCR as authorities continue to probe the cause of the explosion.
