ABOUT Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt is an Indian film actor and producer. He is the son of veteran actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt. Sanjay made his acting debut in 1981 and has appeared in more than 100 Hindi films. In a film career spanning more than 35 years, this actor has done roles in genres ranging from romance to comedy. He also played roles of gangsters, thugs and police officers in the drama and action genres. Major films that fall in his kitty are Saajan, Khal Nayak, Vaastav: The Reality, Kaante, Munnabhai M.B.B.S., All the Best, Double Dhamaal and many others. Sanjay was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act in April 1993. Charges of terrorism were dropped but he was convicted of illegal possession of armaments. After serving his sentence with good behaviour and conduct, he was released on February 25, 2016. In personal life, Sanjay Dutt married actress Richa Sharma in 1987, but she died of brain tumour in 1996. The couple has a daughter, Trishala, born in 1988. Sanjay\'s second marriage was to model Rhea Pillai in 1998.They divorced in 2005. Dutt married Manyata in 2008 in a private ceremony in Goa, after two years of dating. On October 21, 2010, he became a father to twins, a boy named Shahraan and a girl named Iqra.

Mumbai, Feb 26 (ANI): Celebrating Sanjay Dutt's release, Bollywood celebrities welcomed Dutt with open arms. Apart from celebs wishing the actor on social media, many of them, including Sophie Choudry, Shakti Kapoor and R. Madhavan, visited actor's residence to welcome him. Dutt's family and friends, including wife Manyata Dutt and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, were present outside the Yerwada jail in Pune to receive him on Thursday morning. Dutt was arrested for possessing a prohibited weapon AK 56 rifle under the Arms Act, in the Mumbai serial bomb blast case. Expressing his happiness, actor Shakti Kapoor said he met Dutt and could see drastic change in his behaviour. He further said Sanjay is a versatile actor and he will surely help him in whichever way he needs it.

Fans gather as Sanjay Dutt visits Siddhivinayak Temple

Mumbai, Feb 25 (ANI): After walking out from Pune’s Yerwada jail, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Thursday visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple, where his fans in large number gathered to see him. 56-year old Dutt was released after being jailed for 42 months in connection with an arms case related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts on Thursday morning. The actor walked out of jail around eight months ahead of the completion of his term after a reprieve was granted to him on grounds of his good behaviour.

'No easy walk to freedom', says Sanjay Dutt

Pune, Feb 25 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt who walked free from the Yerawada jail on Thursday morning said there is no easy walk to freedom. He also praised his fans and said that he is there because of the support of his fans. Dutt, who served 42 months under the Arms Act in the 1993 Bombay blast case, kissed the ground and saluted the Yerawada jail and policemen standing outside before moving out of the main gate. His wife Manyata Dutt and filmmaker Raj Kumar Hirani were present to receive him. Dutt waived hands at the fans waiting outside the jail complex. The 56-year-old actor went to Pune airport and is likely to board a chartered plane for Mumbai. Dutt will offer obeisance at the famous Siddhivinayak temple in.
