Indian Railways has raised passenger fares for long-distance trains, aiming to earn Rs 600 crore more this year. The last hike was in July 2025, with increases ranging from half a paisa to 2 paisa per km for different classes. This is to simplify fare structures and enhance financial stability, following a previous hike in January 2020 due to the Seventh Pay Commission.
