Veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan is the leading wicket taker in the T20 World Cup history. Shakib has taken 47 wickets at an impressive average of 18.63 and a commendable economy rate of 6.78, including three fiur-wickets haul. Pakistan’s Umar Gul was the top wicket-taker in the first two T20 World Cups in 2007 and 2009.
Shakib is followed by the former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who has managed to get 39 wickets in 34 T20 World Cup games. Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga is at third place with 38 wickets in 31 T20 World Cup matches. Pakistan's off-spinner, Saeed Ajmal, has captured 36 wickets in 23 T20 World Cup matches, and is placed fourth in the list. Sri Lanka's mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis, ranks fifth among all T20 World Cup wicket-takers. Mendis has claimed 35 wickets in just 21 T20 World Cup matches.
