The 2023 World Cup is already upon us with bowlers from every team going toe to toe with their much-celebrated batting counterparts. The first 5-wicket haul in this Cricket World Cup was taken by New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner against the Netherlands. For the Indian cricket team, Jasprit Bumrah has the best figures with his four wickets against Afghanistan.

The 2023 ODI World Cup is the 13th edition of the showpiece tournament. The last 12 editions have seen six different winners, with the Australian cricket team having won the coveted title five times.

While the 2023 World Cup is the fourth instance of India hosting the event, the Men in Blue have clinched the title two times so far. They’re strong favourites for the title this time around as well.

Before the start of the ICC World Cup 2023, Australia’s Glenn McGrath held the record for the most wickets, with 71 wickets from 39 matches at an average of 18.19. The pacer competed in the 1996 edition and was a mainstay of the team even in the 2007 edition. He played a massive role in Australia winning three back-to-back titles from 1999 to 2007.

The Sri Lankan duo of Muttiah Muralidaran and Lasith Malinga are next in the line, with 68 and 56 wickets respectively.

The top Indian in the list was Zaheer Khan, who is in seventh spot with 44 wickets. Compatriot Javagal Srinath is one spot behind him, but also has 44 wickets.

Express PremiumPrashant Kishor put in the time to carve out space in Bihar politics, but can he play the long game?
