Addressing a press conference at the state Congress headquarters in Kolkata, Chowdhury attacked the TMC over arrests of its MLAs and other party leaders in the teachers' recruitment scam.
The single-judge bench of Justice Rajasekhar Mantha ordered the CBI to take over the probe with immediate effect.

Calling the appointment “unfortunate”, Adhikari said, “The selected person was the former DG of WB Police, who was removed from his position by the Election Commission ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections & was barred from holding any election related post as he was inclined towards the ruling party. This appointment is unfortunate."

In its submission to the EC, the TMC said that after the amendment, a party's recognition as a national party depended on its performance in the “subsequent” general elections held after 2016.
The TMC slammed the BJP for allegedly spreading “falsehoods” about the incident.
The chief minister defended the police action, saying they acted in a “tactful manner” to end violence and that there was no “foul play” on their part.
