‘Transparent’ recruitment policy put state back on growth path: Sukhbir

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday harped on his government’s “successful and transparent” recruitment policy

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday harped on his government’s “successful and transparent” recruitment policy, which he claimed had put Punjab’s economy back on rails. Sukhbir Badal was addressing a rally at Dhudike village near Moga at a function organised to pay tributes to freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai on his 146th birth anniversary.

The Deputy CM,however, seemed to be blissfully unaware of the hunger strike by students of Punjab Agricultural University who, too, are demanding that the SAD(B) keep its poll promise and fill up the 1,100 posts lying vacant with the State Department of Agriculture. The protest of these students entered the 10th day today.

In his address Sukhbir Badal maintained that,“Captain Amarinder Singh during his last tenure could not recruit a single employee whereas the SAD-BJP government has to date recruited 48,000 teachers and 11,000 constables and has made thousands of recruitments in Food and Supply,Excise and Taxation,Revenue and all other departments. It is a matter of regret that Amarinder in the very first Cabinet meeting imposed a ban on recruitment and left schools in shambles with 45,000 vacancies. With no recruitment in the government department, most of the candidates waiting for government jobs became over aged and fell into deep frustration, all because of the wrong policies of the Amarinder-led Congress Government.”

Ravinderpal Singh Randhawa,President,Punjab Agricultural University Students Association (PAUSA),said,“Punjab government’s mandate to help farmers of Punjab through its lab to land programme has failed miserably as there are not enough agriculture or soil or horticulture officers in the state who can meet the demands of the farmers. By not filling up the posts, the state government is not only showing its callous attitude towards farmers but also that it does not care about the youth of the state.”
